navigating fertility

Our work together

Navigating fertility can be a long, wild, + complex experience, but it doesn’t have to be a lonely one. You deserve space to be witnessed in all that you’re holding + loving support in your navigation forward.

Jess Mack has been holding heartfelt, rights-based space for others for nearly 20 years. She is a Buddhist meditation teacher, prenatal yoga teacher, reproductive justice advocate, miscarriage doula, + former abortion counselor.

Jess offers spacious + creative support sessions, meeting you where you’re at to hold the full complexity of your fertility experience— whether that is grief + loss, uncertainty + ambivalence, overwhelm + anxiety, fear, excitement, or anything else.

She draws from a deep well of training, education, + lived experience, listening deeply, while offering thoughtful accompaniment + practical tools as you navigate forward.

In addition to psychosocial support, sessions may integrate such modalities as mindfulness meditation, healthcare navigation, supportive movement, ritual design, + other frameworks for meaning-making.

Sessions are confidential + tailored specifically to you, as practical or esoteric as you need, but may touch on such themes as:

  • Staying grounded + embodied during fertility treatment
the potentially long-term + highly medicalized nature of fertility treatment can be disembodying + dissociative, fraught with both TMI + countless unknowns. Support to process + cope with unwanted outcomes or the overall intensity of it through meaningful rituals, supportive movement, visualization, or simply space to share.

  • Moving through in-betweens + ambivalence— not every pregnancy or birth brings pure joy + not every loss brings pure grief. TTC can feel like being suspended in time. Complex emotions that don’t fit into others’ expectations or tidy narratives can stir up shame, confusion, + loneliness. Find neutral space to be affirmed as you are + practical support to navigate the in-between.

  • Honoring loss + sitting with grief— losses stay with us, whether we are actively experiencing or grieving them or not. Offering bereavement + miscarriage doula services for recent losses, including practical support navigating the healthcare system, adjusting to new physical + emotional realities, or designing rituals. For historic or latent losses (infertility, prior miscarriages, etc.) offering space to process even though you may have moved forward.

  • Working with fear— fear often accompanies the unknown + the out-of-our-control, which is the very nature of fertility. We can’t banish or avoid fear, nor should we, but we can deepen our awareness, get curious, + cultivate “fearlessness” to be with it through frameworks that reorient us toward clarity + practices that re-establish our agency.

  • Navigating information, choices, + boundaries— when it comes to our bodies + our fertility, there is an overwhelming amount of information, opinions, + judgments to contend with, 24/7. Offering a supportive, unbiased sounding board for you to clarify decisions or actions, + find ways to articulate that effectively during fertility treatment, pregnancy, loss, or postpartum.

  • Custom placenta art to commemorate a birth— inspired by your unique pregnancy + birth experience, Jess paints bespoke placenta paintings using watercolor + mixed media. Read more about her process and how to order on here. See gallery of paintings.

More about Jess

having a womb is wild

The experience of what it means to have a womb is complex + ever-changing. Fertility is a multi-faceted + dynamic experience that is all your own — totally unique, though in many ways universal.

Most of us live in societies that restrict our reproductive rights + amidst multi-billion dollar fertility, pregnancy, + parenting industries. There is a lot of noise + a lot of constraint.

Despite this, the reality of your fertility — and your experience — is much more layered, emergent, + expansive. You deserve to be reminded of this. You deserve spaciousness to process, navigate, + feel all of it on your own terms, in your own time.
