navigating fertility

Our work together

Through virtual or in-person sessions, Jess offers a heartfelt, rights-based container for the full complexity of your experience. She holds spaciousness and listens so that you can process what you need to, while offering thoughtful accompaniment as you navigate forward.

Jess also paints custom placenta watercolors inspired by your story, for those seeking to commemorate or honor their placenta after a live birth or loss.
More about placenta paintings here.

Sessions are creative and may integrate a number of approaches such as
movement, meditation, humor, art, ritual design, psychosocial support, + various frameworks for meaning-making. Ultimately, they are tailored specifically to you, as practical or esoteric as you need, focusing on such themes as:

  • Re-embodiment + ritual practices during fertility treatment
the long-term + highly medicalized nature of fertility treatment can be a disembodying + dissociative. Integrate meaningful rituals to mark + honor the process (egg retrievals, IVF or IUI rounds, embryo transfers, etc.) + embodiment practices to re-ground you in the power + presence of your body.

  • Holding space for the ambiguous + ambivalent— not every pregnancy or birth brings overwhelming joy + not every loss brings only grief. Complex emotions that don’t fit into others’ expectations or society’s tidy narratives can stir up shame, confusion, + loneliness. Find neutral space to be affirmed as you are + practical support to navigate the in-between.

  • Processing loss + navigating grief— losses stay with us, whether we are actively experiencing or grieving them or not. Offering bereavement + miscarriage doula services for recent losses, including practical support navigating the healthcare system, adjusting to new physical + emotional realities, or designing rituals. For historic or latent losses (infertility, prior miscarriages, etc.) offering space to process even though you may have moved forward.

  • Working with fear— fear often accompanies the unknown + the out-of-our-control, which is the very nature of fertility. We can’t banish or avoid fear, nor should we, but we can deepen our awareness, get curious, + cultivate “fearlessness” to be with it through frameworks that reorient us toward clarity + practices that re-establish our agency.

  • Navigating information, choices, + boundaries— when it comes to our bodies + our fertility, there is an overwhelming amount of information, opinions, + judgments to contend with, 24/7. Offering a supportive, unbiased sounding board for you to clarify decisions or actions, + find ways to articulate that effectively during fertility treatment, pregnancy, loss, or postpartum.

having a womb is wild

The experience of what it means to have a womb is complex + ever-changing.
Fertility is a multi-faceted + dynamic experience that is all your own — totally unique, though in many ways universal.

Most of us live in societies that restrict our reproductive rights + amidst multi-billion dollar fertility, pregnancy, + parenting industries. There is a lot of noise + a lot of constraint.

Despite this, the reality of your fertility — and your experience — is much more layered, emergent, + expansive. You deserve to be reminded of this. You deserve spaciousness to process, navigate, + feel all of it on your own terms, in your own time.
